Imma Hancock

“Diamond”

2006 chestnut mare by Mucha Hancock (Hancock x Blue Valentine) and out of a daughter to Rockin L Rocket (Rocket Wrangler). This mare was actually an accidental find. We found her through the Shawnee, OK ‘tradio,’ which is more or less the local on-air swap meet. She was listed by her owner/breeder, Dewayne Grissom, as a potential barrel prospect. We got the wild hair to go take a look at her… Just for grins. We of course had no idea what she looked like, how big she was, or what sort of breeding she even had. All we knew was that she was foundation + race. That’s all. She was a long yearling, barely halter broke and hardly handled. Although, she was (and still is) a very friendly filly. I was honestly surprised to see what a nice filly she was when we went to look at her. I knew she had good conformation, great feet & legs, and a kind eye. Not to mention her disposition was remarkable for a long yearling that hadn’t been handled much. The price was right, so we loaded her up and headed home.

This was one of those situations that could’ve ended up in any direction. We bought her on a gamble. But really, aren’t they all sort of a gamble? So the question is, will this end up being one of those Cinderella stories? Only time will tell! So far this mare is working beautifully and really seems to love her job. I can’t ask much more than that.
